But that also comes with many negatives, and the game simply doesn't feel as polished as AAA open-world games. There's no way of understating how big of an achievement a game this size and scope is from a small and new team.

I like it I love the ideas - but it's just very messy. In 2019 I played a demo for Biomutant at PAX Australia, and oddly the thoughts I shared then are very similar to those I have now. The whole game kept me hooked with that same curiosity to know more and desire to seek out the world's interestingly designed characters there are just a few un-shined bolts behind this machine. A couple of years ago, that trailer was the reveal of Biomutant, an open-world action RPG from the small and new team of Experiment 101. The teaser trailer showed off a small mutated creature fighting a massive monster, and that world instantly captivated me.

Biomutant will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on September 6, 2022.Every year there's a game trailer released that grabs me and jumps to the top of my most anticipated list. I am looking forward to playing the game again as the light aura and trying out different class/combat combinations on the Xbox Series X. Crafting in Biomutant is incredibly detailed and the creations you can make some weird and wacky weaponry. When you do get in and explore that cave, abandoned ruin or underground bunker, you’re rewarded with copious amounts of loot and components. The wilderness felt a little too empty at times, even with mounts and vehicles, and fast travel didn’t help in this regard. I loved the sheer scale of them compared to yourself, which was also represented in the size of the world we get to explore. The mini boss creatures are challenging enough, but the worldeaters are something else entirely.

If you already own the Xbox One version you will be able to upgrade to this visually enhanced version for free and you can even bring those juicy Xbox One save files with you! Biomutant is a beauty to behold with environments begging to be explored, and the combat is fluid, agile and a heck of a lot of fun.

Performance: 60 fps locked 1440p (1080p on Series S).

These are the three different graphic modes: On Xbox Series X, Biomutant offers native 4k resolution with up to 60 FPS, the Xbox Series S offers a 1440p resolution and up to 60 FPS as well.
